Karachi: President of Korangi Association of Trade & Industry (KATI) Danish Khan said that food safety is the question of country’sfuture , Industry is ready to cooperate ruled and regulation regarding it. He was talking to meeting held at KATI regarding food safety with the officials of Sindh Food Authority (SFA) and other industrialists. A delegation of SFA lead by Director Operations Abrar Ahmed Shaikh briefed the meeting regarding laws and regulation. Senior Vice President of KATI Faraz-ur-Rehman, Chairman & CEO KITE Zubair Chhaya, Head of KATI’s standing committee on food safety Umer Rehan, Vice President Maheen Salman and representatives of food industry attended the meeting. Danish Khan said that there is need to spread awareness regarding protocols of Sindh Food Industry, established just last year. He urged that food safety is a question of a nation’s future, business community and industrialists are ready to play their part for the implementation of the relevant laws. Umer Rehan said that standardization is not only important for the healthcare of our people, but it is also now the need of time to promote food exports. Director SFA Abrar Ahmed Shaikh told the meeting that health certificate issued by the authority, now become compulsory to present for import and export of the food products. He said that in a short time SFA was trying to reform the food industry environment. He said that SFA adopted a reform agenda rather than harassing industry or businessmen. He said that the authority simplified the license process for industries, food vendors, restaurant, five star hotels and etc. He briefed the industrialist regarding jurisprudence, laws and protocols of the authority.
